Deddington Farmers' Market Day - Saturday, 27th June 2015

Saturday is market day and today we’re off to Deddington Farmers’ Market which we missed in May, when I had a few computer problems and now, thankfully, are being overcome at last.

And summer has come to Oxfordshire with some good sunny days recently.  Last Thursday was really glorious all day long and into the evening as well.  Now today it’s bright and sunny and warm and everyone’s in summer wear, determined to enjoy the warmth while it lasts!

I have photos for friends at Deddington’s Church which I hand over to Pat in the kitchen, where they are busy serving tea and coffee to market visitors, before I visit the produce stalls....

I spy friend  Jonquil Sabin of Q @ Temple Mill, exhibiting her “Character Wooden Boards” made from “wood sourced from farm and an out the UK”; find her on – jonquilsabin@hotmail.co.uk – and here is my photo of her stand at April’s Farmers’ Market…

My next stall visit was to Diana Sainsbury to exclaim over her beautiful handmade stoneware pottery, comprising a fine selection of bowls, dishes, mugs and other items in her most attractive blue glaze.  Find Diana by email at – dianamsainsbury@aol.com for her Duns Tew Pottery and …….

We then met up with a friend from Adderbury and while we were chatting we looked at the stall beside us, June’s Crafts & Dancewear by June Taylor of – junetaylor54@btinternet.com – whose stall was pretty and sparkly with her delightful tutu costumes, butterfly wings and wands.

We had been chatting about last weekend’s Party in the Park at Adderbury where there had been the most enchanting rosebud headdresses on sale.  A generous-hearted friend gave me one and I wore it all day long.  So looking at June’s pretty tutu’s and butterfly wings we could easily these being on sale at PIP 2016….now there’s a thought!

And then I stopped to look at the Phoenix Card stall of Liz Wingrove and bought a little pack of memo notes.  Liz had a great range of all Phoenix products on show and I know I’m sure to find something just right for that special occasion when next we meet.  Find Liz and her supply of Phoenix Products via her e-address – lizwingroves5@googlemail.com

The church tower was open for visitors to see and inspect the bells, hear a little of their ringing, then to climb up by the bell chamber and thence to the tower’s roof to look over Deddington and the surrounding countryside.  Blessed with a very good day, the view was spectacular and the free-swooping swifts proclaimed summer was definitely here.

Going up the tower was one thing, coming down was quite another but as I’ve climbed up and down Ely Cathedral and the huge water wheel on the Isle of Man I just got on with it…apart from the excited squeaking and chatter!

I hope you enjoy my photos of our day at Deddington and believe me when I tell you how sorry I was not to visit friends in the market square….See you next month Guys!!!
